Hannah, Here and There Turns 1!
On August 22, 2024, Hannah, Here and There turned 1! This little passion project of mine has been a fun and creative hobby and a big step towards chasing my dreams. I’m writing this post not only as a celebration of this little blog’s first year of accomplishments, but also to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has read and supported this project. I also hope this post serves as a reminder to go after your dreams; because no matter how big or small they may be, they are completely worth going after.
My Blogging Journey + Goals
Becoming a blogger is something that I truly never thought I’d be doing. Although I’ve always been a confident person (not to mention a theater kid back in school), putting myself out there (especially in terms of on the internet), was never something I felt comfortable with. It wasn’t until after I took my first international trip to Greece. I remember wanting to relive and embody that mindset of adventure and inspiration forever, and that’s when I stumbled upon travel blogs. Girls that had entire digital diaries about traveling and the coolest, most beautiful things the world has to offer. I thought it was incredible. What was even more incredible to me was that they were making money while doing it. The ambitious, high-achieving girl inside me immediately thought “Why can’t I do that?”. I wanted to build something I could be proud of, something that could serve as an inspiration to others and a creative outlet to myself. Ultimately, I would love for blogging to one day be my full time job.
So I did all a ton of research (maybe a little too much research, if we’re being completely honest). My favorite blogging powerhouses and sources are Sophia Lee (https://bysophialee.com/), Helene Sula (https://heleneinbetween.com/), and Christina Galbato (https://createherempire.com/). Using their tips on blogging, I bought my domain, Hannah, Here and There. I slowly (and painfully) began learning how to create and design a WordPress website. It took nearly a year of working on it before I finally mustered up the courage to launch my blog!
A summary of Hannah, Here and There’s achievements in Year 1
While I did not achieve my goal of making money from my blog every single month and also keeping a consistent publishing schedule (was this delusional for year 1? Absolutely), I achieved a lot of milestones during the first year of my blog that I’m very proud of. Here’s a list of everything we achieved this past year:
- 30+ blog posts
- My blog post on the Johnnie Walker Journey of Flavour Tour ranked in the top 5 Google search Results (right now, it’s sitting at #2, only second to Trip Advisor!)
- I earned money through my actual blog (just over $17 to be exact, it was an affiliate link to the Outlander Tour I took in Scotland!)
- I got my first paid collaboration with Airalo on Instagram ($215)
- I earned my first content trip with EF Ultimate Break- I got to go to Morocco with an incredible
- Over 1,000 readers
- 3,000+ amazing new friends on Instagram
- My first set of ‘viral’ videos on Instagram- my Scotland videos popped off, with my best performing one achieving over 513,000 views!
Hannah, Here and There turns 1: THANK YOU!
Let me be clear: I don’t write or share this to brag in any way. I’m sharing this as a humble THANK YOU for everything that you’ve done to help support this little dream of mine- whether you’ve read a post or a few posts; shared this with your friends; or even just gave me words of encouragement in any way. While my successes in year 1 don’t even come close to what I was hoping to achieve, I am proud of myself for taking this risk, for trying new things (and let’s be real, failing a lot), learning, and striving to create something beautiful in a way that I’ve never done before. If you’ve gotten this far, I want to leave you with this: Go after your dreams. Try something new, and give yourself permission to become all that you’ve ever wanted to be. You’ve got this, and I believe in you. If you have a project or business or dream of your own, please share it below in the comments so that everyone here can support you!
